The word ‘kawaida’, in swahili is used to refer to something that is common, usual, typical or normal.  We created Kawaida Coffee with the intention to encourage a redefinition of ‘normal coffee’. This is because the coffee we deem to be normal is the product of an unsustainable coffee industry. The core of Kawaida is the project of normalising the consumption of coffee that supports fair labour and sustainable farming practices.
