Our mission
Challenges the coffee industry is facing
Consumers are paying premium prices for coffee that often delivers poor quality and even poorer ethics. While the coffee industry generates billions, the farmers who grow the beans earn only a tiny share, which is frequently not enough to live on.
This imbalance drives exploitation, deforestation, and climate pressure, all hidden by a lack of transparency in the supply chain. The result is bad coffee for the drinker and a broken system for the producer.
Our solution to these challenges
Working with smallholder farmers
We work directly with smallholder farmers, building real relationships with the people growing our coffee. We have regular visits, direct communication, and shared goals for quality and sustainability.
Controlling the farm gate price
Traditional certifications don’t always reflect the amount that actually reaches the farmer, also known as the ‘farm gate price’. At Stean’s Beans, we go all the way back to the farm gate to ensure that the farmer directly benefits.
Traceable farmer payments
We work with Lipia, a traceable payment solution, which allows consumers to track exactly where their purchase is going and how much farmers are paid.
Independent from C-market
We operate independently from the C-market price, offering stability and fair pay to farmers and predictable prices for customers.
